Out and About With NEBTR

Quit Smoking Community is a virtual community that offers support and information for those trying to kick the deadliest habit in the world.

Our vision for Quit Smoking Community is to provide a hub where visitors can access information regarding quitting smoking, as well as download resources and tools to help them begin and complete their quit journey. Our website currently receives over 40,000 visitors per day from around the world, and we hope to bring people of different races and nationalities together in the fight against tobacco.

Rover is a website and app that connects pet parents with pet sitters. Rover’s Sit a Dog, Save a Life lets you raise money for local dogs-in-need by doing something you do already: asking your neighbors to watch your dog instead of leaving them in a kennel.
Many Rover sitters in New York donate a percentage of their earnings to nonprofits
through Sit a Dog, Save a Life. When you book with a sitter who has the Rover
Donation Badge on their profile, you’re helping dogs in need.

Thanks to Dr. Yasson

NEBTR wants to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to Dr Michele Yasson for conducting a very informative Webinar for our members.  She discussed the importance of good nutrition and the severe reactions our pets suffer from being  over-vaccinated.  Several of NEBTR’s fosters are benefiting from Dr Yasson’s holistic treatment approach to restore health to their bodies.  To learn more about Dr Yasson you can visit her website at www.Holvet.net. We highly recommend her!

Let me tell you how this all came about…

I rescue Boston Terriers and started baking my own treats for my pups a few years ago.  My dogs loved them, my neighbor’s dogs loved them, and the trail just continued!  I was thrilled to have so many pups enjoying my treats!  All of my treats are baked fresh and have a lot of natural ingredients too!  I am always here to answer your questions, feel free to message me, I would love to help you choose the perfect treats for your best friends!  I love what I do and I hope you will love it here too!

Kim Barnett

Kim Barnett stresses promoting good human – canine relationships based on respect, trust and kindness.

She writes, “My philosophy is a simple one: to help humans communicate better with their dogs and have more fulfilling relationships. A soon as we begin to communicate clearly, our dogs respond accordingly. Most of us already have the skills, we just don’t know it. In considering this, I look for the similarities more than the differences in our two species and use them to mutual advantage. It’s no coincidence that the dog has been our closest companion for thousands of years; on an instinctual level we have many parallels, both being a social species.”

Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue (NEBTR) is comprised of volunteers based in NY, NJ, PA, CT and DE and serves Boston Terriers in need within reach of our helping hands. Most dogs in foster care for placement are adolescent to adult dogs in need of re-homing in life for a multitude of reasons and will need caring hands to guide them as they transition into new homes. All of our rescue dogs are fostered and evaluated for a 2 week minimum to allow us to assess their personality and provide them with basic foundation skills - House/Crate training, basic manners - to ease their transition into new homes. It is our belief such work in foster care better prepares dogs for success and helps forms lasting bonds.
