Out and About With NEBTR

In Memory of Winston Patel

Winston was the beloved dog of Michelle Luongo Patel.  Michelle writes, “I miss my baby. I just can’t believe he’s gone. I will never kiss his soft little temples again, snuggle him, have him smile at me with his teeth or his right sided grin. I’m lost.”

Blodwen Fletcher, Michele Abate, Anna Cheung, Julianne Furdyna, Gina Curcio and Doris Arguelles have made memorial gifts in Winston’s name to the Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue. We thank them for their kindness in his memory.

Thanks to Walter Williams

NEBTR sends a special “thank you” to Walter Williams.  Walter is the NEBTR digital portrait painter who paints loved Bostons for FREE (with the hope that the recipient might give a small donation to the Senior Trust Fund.)

Last summer Walter was instrumental in setting up the Senior Trust Fund, and this fund helped numerous Senior Bostons who found themselves looking for a new home in their Senior years.  Some of these poor souls had expensive medical issues, and this Senior Trust Fund insures that they will get the care they deserve and, hopefully, find forever homes.

NEBTR thanks Walter profusely for the extraordinary efforts he continually makes to raise funds for our rescued Bostons, in particular the Senior Trust Fund that was created due to his relentless energy on their behalf.  The paintings you donate and the donations we receive for them are just another example of your generosity.

We are grateful for your support, your time, your imagination and talent, but mostly for your shared love of this beautiful breed.

Thank you for all your do on their behalf.

And thanks to the following who have made donations to NEBTR on behalf of Walter:

Ellie Mae was adopted from NEBTR in 2011 by Sherry Florentino.  Sadly, she went to the bridge on January 14, 2014 as the result of a heart condition.  Thanks to Nicole Florentino for the very generous gift to NEBTR in her memory.

In Memory of Mary Beth Rapp

Mary Beth Rapp was a willing and active volunteer with NEBTR and wanting to help Bostons wherever and whenever she could.  She fostered them for us, and regularly helped with transporting them.

Mary Beth Rapp, 54, a lifelong Pawling resident, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at her home.

Mary Beth Rapp

Mary Beth Rapp was a willing and active volunteer with NEBTR and wanting to help Bostons wherever and whenever she could.  She fostered them for us, and regularly helped with transporting them.

Mary Beth was beautiful soul who will be so sorely missed by all of us.  Her family has our deepest sympathies and we share you loss. She was a true friend to our Boston Terriers.

Mary Beth Rapp, 54, a lifelong Pawling resident, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at her home.

The daughter of Charles Colman and Irene (Callahan) Colman, Rapp was born in Poughkeepsie on June 19, 1958. She married Michael Rapp in St. John’s Church in Pawling on May 24, 1981.

She was a member of the Pawling Fire Department Auxiliary. She bred, raised and showed quarter horses and was a volunteer with the Northeast Boston terrier Rescue organization.

Rapp was the bookkeeper for her family’s construction business, R&R Development of Pawling.

She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Christina Carlson of Sheffield, Mass.; her brother, Charles Colman Jr. of Brookfield, Conn.; and her sister, Charlene See of Pawling.

Jerrilyn’s Birthday Honor

Jerrilyn Walter is passionate about Boston Terriers.  She is a tireless volunteer for NEBTR, wearing many hats all with love for the breed.  She is also the Mom to world famous Vivienne, Boston and model extraordinaire.

So when Jerrilyn turned 40, what better than to celebrate and to benefit NEBTR at the same time.  She requested that in lieu of gifts, donations be sent to NEBTR.  Her friends honored her by contributing over $1500 to our organization.  Special thanks to Katherine Kerr, Sandra Lubicz, Stan Klasek, Dawn Palo, Nohemy Plascencia, Ashley Dolan, Leslie Gilbert, Denise Meekins, Robert Meekins, Brendan Barr, Scott Edwards, Mary Wright, Natalie Baxter, Thomas Pellegrino, and Jerrilyn’s Mom, all of whom made birthday gifts in her honor.

And a great big thank you to Jerrilyn, for including NEBTR in her special day!

In Memory of Molly Belle

Molly Belle was a very special Boston girl who owned Jim and Alyson Thelin Davison. They had her from her puppy days, and she brought much love and joy with her special wiggle, her beautiful face, her intelligence and her unique Boston style. She loved to play with her litter mate and twin Bob, who found his way to Alyson, Jim and Molly by a quirk of fate, and the two red and white pups were inseparable. Sadly, Molly had every gift but the gift of time, and she went to the Rainbow Bridge from lymphoma when she was only 7. A gift to NEBTR in the amount of $1,000 has been made in Molly’s memory, in the hope that it will be used to better the lives of other Boston Terriers. Molly would have approved.

Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue (NEBTR) is comprised of volunteers based in NY, NJ, PA, CT and DE and serves Boston Terriers in need within reach of our helping hands. Most dogs in foster care for placement are adolescent to adult dogs in need of re-homing in life for a multitude of reasons and will need caring hands to guide them as they transition into new homes. All of our rescue dogs are fostered and evaluated for a 2 week minimum to allow us to assess their personality and provide them with basic foundation skills - House/Crate training, basic manners - to ease their transition into new homes. It is our belief such work in foster care better prepares dogs for success and helps forms lasting bonds.
