Please Help Maxx
Maxx Needs Us
Poor Maxx has been through so much in the six years he has been on this earth. He came to us severely emaciated, not because he wasn’t being fed, but because his intestines were not properly absorbing the food. He had extreme IBD and we were afraid we were going to lose him.
After trying nearly everything and numerous different animal specialists, procedures, medications and hospitals, he finally began to gain a little weight on a new medication. The damage to his intestines is irreversible, but Maxx finally began to live his best life so far! We were so happy for him.
It was discovered that the cause of the IBD was a fluid-filled cyst pressing on his spine. We believed that this was also causing him to have mobility issues and some incontinence. We decided to do an MRI to determine if the cyst could be drained or removed to help Maxx regain his mobility. While he enjoys his stroller, he is a fairly young dog that would love to romp and play.
The MRI revealed much more than we were expecting! Maxx had a large mass on his spleen and needed an emergency splenectomy before it could burst. Thankfully, the mass was benign and now we can try to address his hopefully last remaining hurdle to complete health.
Maxx has an appointment with a specialist to determine if his mobility and urinary continence can be restored. We have spent just shy of $8,000 on the MRI and the unexpected splenectomy. These were funds that we were hoping to use to address the cyst. Maxx would be so appreciative if you could donate to help him get the medical care he needs to finally just be a happy, healthy boy.
He is such a sweet boy and he really deserves to be as healthy as he can be.
