Adoption Application
IMPORTANT — During this time of uncertainty surrounding the spread of the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, we wanted to let you know that the health and safety of our volunteers is a top priority.
Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our Boston Terriers!
At this time, we cannot process ALL new applications.
However, if your application is a match for one of our foster dogs, who is ready for adoption, you will be contacted.
Although we cannot guarantee that you will be matched with the dog you applied for or any dog at this time, all matching applications will go through a complete screening process prior to adoption. The process is thorough and can seem lengthy. Due to the few dogs we have available at this time, the large number of applications we receive, and the restrictions by each state due to Covid, it will take some time. Your patience is much appreciated as we work through it together!–
Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue (NEBTR), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is comprised of Volunteers based in NY / NJ / PA / DE / CT, and serves Boston Terriers in need within the reach of our Helping Hands. Most dogs in Foster care for placement are Adolescent-to-Adult dogs in need of re-homing in life for a multitude of reasons and will need caring hands to guide them as they transition into new homes. All of our rescue dogs are fostered & evaluated for a 2 week minimum to allow us to assess their personality & provide them with basic foundation skills – House/Crate training, basic manners to ease their transition into new homes. It is our belief such work in foster care better prepares dogs for success and helps them form lasting bonds.
Dogs will not be adopted to families with children under 10, nor to those planning on having children within 5 years. Adoptions to families with children 10 and over will be evaluated individually, with the needs of the child and dog taken into consideration.
NEBTR’s single priority in Rescue is to serve the needs of the individual dog in our care. While many loving homes, individuals & families apply to adopt rescue dogs, our placement process is intended to supply the Dog with a home suitable to meets its individual needs. Rescue volunteers also receive the same screening procedures as do our adopters. Please note that, regretfully, we are unable to adopt to adopters who use electronic fences.
We primarily accept applications from Boston lovers in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Connecticut only, but have adopted to other northeast states on a case by case basis.
Only through the kindness and generosity of volunteers for these dogs can we survive. Adoption fees in no way cover personal expenses, veterinary bills, food and shelter and the time and costs taken to nurture these dogs back to health. Nor are the expenses to do research or home visit, or transports covered. We are not a part of the government entitlement programs and we receive no support other than through the kindness of donations.
Adoption Fees:
TBD – Puppies up to 6 months
$600 – Puppies 6 months to 2 years
$500 – 2 yrs to 4 yrs
$450 – 5 yrs to 7 yrs
TBD – Over 8 years based on health & behavior
Please note that even if you apply for a specific dog that it doesn’t mean you will adopt that dog. If you are applying for a specific dog please know that there are no guarantees that the dog will still be available or you will be the best match. A dog will not be placed on hold and if there are multiple applications the home best suited for the dog’s needs will be chosen. However, even if you think you are interested in a specific one, there may be others that will be a good fit for you, and you will be given this information when you have your phone interview. Incoming pups and placements are an ongoing process.
As part of our screening process, we ALWAYS call the vet you list as a reference. To aid us in our screening, after you have submitted an application, you must call that office to let them know we will be calling for information and authorize its release. Otherwise, this will create additional delays for you and us.
If you need to contact someone or have issues with the form please send an email to our Director Debbi Brigham at debra_brigham@yahoo.com
